She was born in Benton Harbor on October 19, 1924 to George & Zora (Hosbein) Gaunder, Sr. She married Paul Herzog, Jr. at St. John's in Benton Harbor in 1945 and together they raised 8 children. The only thing more important to her than her family was the Catholic faith that was engraved upon her heart.
